We wish to extend an invitation to you to attend our annual lunch CLE meeting to be hosted by the Intellectual Property Section of the Spokane County Bar Association. 

The Speaker.  As a guest speaker of this lunch meeting, we welcome Doug Greenswag, a patent litigator, of the Seattle office of K&L Gates.

“Translating Geek To English, Explaining Patents & Technology To The Court And Jury” 

When?  Lunch and the annual meeting will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by the CLE.

Where?  K&L Gates, located in the Bank of Whitman building at 618 W. Riverside, Suite 300, Spokane, WA.  Phone (509) 624-2100.

Agenda:

12 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: SCBA IP Section business, including: (i) Election of new officers for 2009 and (ii) Proposal by John Reid to expand the section to become a regional IP association, including members from industry, government, education, etc.

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: CLE Presentation by Douglas Greenswag regarding "Translating Geek To English, Explaining Patents & Technology To The Court And Jury".

Dues: Please note that section dues for 2009 section dues (for attorneys) are currently due. Dues must be paid prior to, or at the time of, the meeting in order to receive CLE credit. Dues are $35 annually, payable to “Spokane County Bar Association – IP Section”, and may be either be brought to the meeting, or send in advance to: Greg Johnson, Paine Hamblen LLP, 717 W Sprague Ave # 1200, Spokane, WA 99201.

New Members: We are always looking for new members so that we can grow the section. To that end, please spread the word of the meeting to other attorneys both within, and outside of, your law firm who you think might be interested in joining the section. (New members must pay the 2009 dues, per the details above. Please also note: in order to become a member of the Spokane County Bar Association – IP Section, you must be a member of (1) the Washington State Bar Association, and (2) the Spokane County Bar Association.)

Students: Law students cannot formally become members of the IP Section since members of the section must first be a member of the Spokane County Bar Association. However, students are encouraged to attend any/all meetings and are only requested to pay $5 for lunch at the March 20 meeting.
